IMSU strike update

The strike embarked upon by  both Academic Staff Union of Universities, IMSU chapter and their counterparts in the Non Academic category on March 21st continued last week with no indications so far of it being called off.

It can be recalled that academic and non academic activities were shut down on 21st after the IMSU ASUU and NASU stopped work due to non-payment of their January and February Salaries by the state government.
Consequently the Year one examinations that was meant to commence on same day was halted as the staff embarked on "indefinite strike".
Last week, rumours emanated that the strike would be called off on Tuesday 29th March, but the day has come and gone and so has the rumour.
When we contacted a member of IMSU ASUU who is also a lecturer in the school, he said their chairman has not given any notice for call off and that they are yet to be paid and consequently matching on with their Aluta spirit. He however expressed hopes that the strike may not last for long.

There was no need contacting the Chairman of IMSU ASUU, Dr Chidi Nwadiro, because of his usual harsh response to journalists.
