IMSU ASUU Embarks on indefinite strike (Confirmed)

he Imo State University chapter of the
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)
after its congress that lasted from 9am to
about 12pm today March 21, 2016, have
embarked on indefinite strike action.
This, as gathered by scholar9ja.blogspot.co.ke is as a
result of nonpayment of the staff January and
February salaries owed them by the state
government.
The ASUU chairman, Revrd. Dr. Chidi
Nwadiaro in his usual manner shunned
journalists and the SUG Director of
Information when we got to his office and
even walked us out of his office. {Don't worry,
embarrassment is one of the hazards of our
work}.
However information gotten from other
academic staff of the university confirmed
that the union by majority vote decided to go
on indefinite strike (not three months strike
as been spread) till they are paid their
January and February salaries.
Consequent upon the above, the year one
exams that was slatted to commence today
has also been postponed indefinitely.
The strike is coming just 2 days after the 7th
convocation of the university which held 18
and 19th of this month and which also had in
attendance the Governor of the state, His
Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha who is
populaly called the commander of free
education.

Our advice to the year one students is not to
travel too far because this is an indefinite
strike and may end at anytime depending on
the response of the government.
At least you now have more time to prepare
for your exams.
